Richard Marshall Slaughter

July 7, 1923 — December 1, 2010

R.M. Slaughter was born July 7, 1923 in Turkey Texas to his parents, Edward Francis and Bell Slaughter. After graduation he served in the United States Army Air Corp where he was in pilot training until an injury prevented him from becoming a pilot.  He married Virginia Hope Lemons in Clovis, New Mexico in 1951; she preceded him in death in 2005 after fifty three years of marriage. An accomplished mechanical engineer and brilliant businessman, Richard owned and operated R.M. Slaughter and Associates and Agents Distributors in Lubbock for many years.  Richard worked for John Wayne, developing state of the art feed yards in California in the late sixties. Richard lived a life, many only dream of, never slowing down until the death of Virginia. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home Richard is survived by his two sons, Don A. Slaughter of Lubbock, Texas; and Richard L. Slaughter of Frankston, TX; and three grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
