Ricky Kellison

Ricky Lynn Kellison, 62, of Amarillo passed away March 27, 2018. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

He was a master electrician and longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #239. He is survived by his parents; Harold and JoAnn Kellison; sister, Linda Curry; son, Joshua Kellison; daughter, Celestel Wheeler; and grandchildren.

“My brother, Rick, was the kind of man that enjoyed so much of what this life had to offer. He was the typical younger brother whom aggravated his big sister whenever the opportunity presented itself. He was a football player in high school, loved country and western dancing as a young man, motorcycles, dirt bikes, fishing, camping, and the mountains of Colorado. He loved his family dearly and helped care for two brothers that preceded him in death. Rick doted on his animals, an epileptic German Shepard, Tai, and a shelter dog, Jack that had both been abused. He gave those dogs limitless time, nurturing, patience and love. He was all about second chances for people and animals. Rick was a big man with a big heart and will be greatly missed.”- Linda Curry, Sister

“Ricks favorite song was “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton. He was always a kind man, fair and generous. I always considered him the dad I didn’t have growing up. I met Rick two years ago at a day labor site and had worked for him and his family ever since. He made me feel like I was part of the family. When I first met Rick, I was a wreck. My life was going down the drain, Rick helped me through a lot, including buying a car. Rick was one of those people that could bring you up when you were down and never judged without reason. He had a big heart, was stubborn as all get out, and never cheated anyone. He always had a story to tell and was always willing to teach me new things. He taught me everything from electrical to wood working, after all, he was a master electrician. Rick was a genuine all around good person. I can honestly say Rick made me a better person and he will be missed. Love you Rick.”- Je’an West, Friend

“My dad was the happiest when he was helping people and spending time with his two dogs, Tai and Jack, whom he loved unconditionally. He was very opinionated politically and I had great fun getting him riled up by opposing his views, even when I secretly agreed with him. He always knew I was harassing him when I would crack up laughing. He was proud of his kids and said so often and loved his grandchildren. He had a good friend, Je’an, whom he was also proud of and spoke of often. He always thought there would be more time; time with family, time with friends, time to finish projects, time to make changes, time with his furbabies… take time today to tell those you love that you love them and hug them a little tighter.
