Ricky Lee Landers

March 10, 1950 — April 14, 2011

Ricky was born in Borger, Texas to Edward Landers and Fern Stephens Landers, March 10, 1950. He attended and graduated school in Tulia, Texas. He married Connie Ottensmeyer April 2, 1975, and together they had two daughters. He entered the 34th Amarillo Police Academy October 1, 1974 and retired after 32 years.  He was a long time member of Trinity Fellowship Church. He was an honorable, faithful, giving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.Survived by his wife Connie Landers; two daughters Lori Pillion and husband Jason,  and Keli Landers all of Amarillo; one brother Roger Dale Landers and wife Cille of Spring, Texas; two wonderful grandchildren Avery and Cooper whom he greatly adored; and his four legged friends that were all considered part of the family. At first glance, he always appeared to be quiet and reserved, but always ended up being the life of the party. Everyone who knew Ricky always knew he would do anything for them and would go out of his way to make sure things were always taken care of. His girls knew he was always only a phone call away.He devoted his life to taking care of his family, friends, fellow officers, and those who have lost their loved ones.He instilled in his family the valuable lesson of character being who you are when no one is looking, always emphasizing the importance of doing the right thing. He was a good man who has left an incredible legacy. All though we will tremendously treasure the many memories we have made with him by our side, he will be greatly missed.
