Mrs. Cranfill was born July 18, 1912 in Bonham, Texas to John James and Virginia Cordelia Pass. Robbie was the youngest of eleven children. She met Cecil Cranfill and they married April 1, 1932. They both attended Central State Teacher’s College. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse. Mrs. Cranfill taught school for over forty years, teaching twenty of those years at Will Rogers Elementary in Lawton, OK. She taught second grade and loved all of her students. She always had dogs around her as her pets. Robbie was an avid crafter, including crocheting and homemade Christmas ornaments. She loved to cook, and was an expert at coconut pie and Christmas candy. She always made multiples of everything to give away to students and friends alike. She was a big OU fan and enjoyed watching the football games. She was a lifetime member of Centenary Methodist Church in Lawton. She was a member of the Builders Class at Centenary. She moved to Amarillo in 1998 and began attending Wesley Drive Methodist, which is now St. Stephen’s Methodist West Campus.
Robbie spent the last six years of her life at Craig Methodist. She made friends with all of the staff, and they enjoyed spending time with Robbie listening to her stories. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the love and care of Robbie. Words can’t express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks for the kindness and compassion given to her by Craig Retirement Center and BSA Hospice nurses and staff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil and her son Corky Cranfill.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Cranfill and wife Carolyn of Chandler, AZ and Hank Cranfill and wife Charlotte of Amarillo; daughter-in-law Sandra Cranfill of New Orleans; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
