Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30th, at Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. Pastor Bob Miller of South Georgia Baptist Church will officiate. Private burial will be held at Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Robert Clounch was born on September 19, 1920, to William Spurgeon and Noma (Rusk) Clounch in Canyon, Texas, one of four children. He grew up mostly in Colorado, where he graduated from high school and entered Trinidad Junior College, only to be interrupted by World War II, where he served as a bomber/instructor pilot in the USAF. Following the war he returned to Canyon, Texas, to his wife Frances, started his family and graduated with honors from West Texas State College (WT A&M University) with a Masters degree in Education. He started his career in the Amarillo Public School system, as a teacher and Sunrise Elementary School's first principal, where he retired after 28 years of service. After retirement he was active in the Texas RetiredTeachers Association, Downtown Lions Club and became Amarillo's "Texas Twanger" performing throughout the State for hundreds of charitable events. Robert was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather and devout Christian. He enjoyed singing making friends and living life to its fullest.He is preceded in death by “The Love of His Life” wife of 64 years, Frances, in 2008.Survivors include his son, Mark Clounch of Phoenix, AZ; his daughter, Gail Vandiver of Amarillo, TX; his brother, Dennis Clounch of Amarillo, TX; his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 29th, at Schooler Funeral Home, on South Georgia St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to San Jacinto Christian Academy, 501 S.
