Robert A. Gallagher, 87, formally of Amarillo died Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 Coulter St.
Bob was born June 26, 1929 in Ranger, Texas to A.C. and Margaret Gallagher. He was the third out of four brothers, Gus, Charlie and Jimmy. Bob attended St. Gregory University until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1951 where he served in the Korean War. He was awarded National Defense, United Nations and the Korean War Five Star Service Medals.
Bob married the love of his life, Marianne Schlecht on November 26, 1956. They moved to Amarillo in 1966 where they raised their family. Bob was a member of The Knights of Columbus and he loved to play golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marianne Gallagher; and son, Gregg Gallagher.
Bob is survived by his son Garry; daughter in law, Susie; grandchildren, Chris and Brianna; and a great grandchild, Brayden.
