Robert Eugene “Bobby” Harper, 76, of Amarillo died Friday, June 28, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in The Church at Quail Creek with Trent Sisemore officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Bobby was born December 17, 1936 to Eugene and Nona Harper. He has no surviving relatives. He graduated in 1954 from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College. Bobby was on the Advisory Board and served on the nominating committee for Texas Musical Drama and was a longtime member and supporter of Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation. He also worked on the Lady Bird Johnson project on planting wildflowers along the Texas highways.
Through the years, Bobby was employed by Cooper and Melin Music Store, 30 years with Hastings Entertainment Inc., Corbyn’s Clothing, Jack Sisemore Traveland and The Galleries at Sunset Center. He also managed bands in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.
Bobby was an avid gardener and recently had an art studio in the Galleries at Sunset Center. He was everyone’s friend and happily waited on thousands of residents of the Texas Panhandle in his fifty years in retailing.
