Robert S. “Buddy” Karr, 76, of Amarillo died Monday, January 28, 2013.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Paramount Baptist Church with the Dr. Gil Lain officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Buddy was born July 3, 1936, in Crosbyton, Texas, to Odie and Frances Karr. He moved to Amarillo at the age of seven. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1960 with a Registered Pharmacist Degree. Buddy began his career at D&S Pharmacy. He later became a Partner of D&S Pharmacy with Ray Doherty and Phil Durham until 1996 when they sold the stores. During this time, they owned stores in Amarillo and Claude. From 1968 to 1978, Buddy operated the Claude Pharmacy. He lived in Claude with his family for eight of these years.
Buddy was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in his early years. Later, he was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord and his family. Buddy was an avid golfer. He was a member of Tascosa Country Club where he enjoyed many, many rounds of golf with his friends and family. Buddy had a great sense of humor and was well known for his story-telling and lectures. Buddy will be missed by all who knew him.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Frances Karr; and his son, 2nd Lt. Russell Todd Karr.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carole; a daughter, Pam Sames and her husband Dr. Tom Sames; a son, Sam Karr and wife Tracy; four grandchildren Austin Sames, Lindsay Sames, Hogan Karr and Caroline Karr; five siblings, Dr. Carter Karr of Amarillo, Carolyn Christian of Glendale, AZ, Edie Hixson of Lake Charles, LA, David Karr of Norman, OK, and Ted Karr of New Braunfels, TX; and many loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 on Wednesday at the funeral home.
