Robert Foster Pool

Robert Foster “Bob” Pool was born January 10, 1922 and went to be with his Lord and Savior February 6, 2013.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Groom 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Bob lived in Groom most all his life. His mother’s, Thelma Slay Pool, family were some of the first settlers in Groom. He has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1933.
He graduated from Groom High School in 1940. He served in the U. S. Army beginning in 1943 and was a Staff Sergeant when he was Honorably Discharged in 1947 at Camp Polk Louisiana. After his discharge, he returned to Groom and began farming. He supplemented his income in the early years of farming by selling cars in Groom and Pampa.
He was a Director for State National Bank of Groom for 32 years. He also served on the Groom School Board for six years and on the Soil Conservation Service Board for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, O. A. “Jinks” Pool and Thelma Slay Pool; three brothers, Ray, W. G. “Sonny”, and Jimmy Pool; and a daughter, Dianne Reynolds Koetting.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia of the home; a sister, Maurine Pool Strickland of Amarillo, TX; four sons, Bobby (Marion) Pool of Groom, TX; Gary (Deborah) Pool of Franklin, TN; Larry Pool of Amarillo, TX; Dusty Reynolds of Groom, TX; 12 grandchildren, Kyle Pool of Washington, DC; Kelly Pool of McKinney, TX; Suzy Pool of Abilene, TX; Caleb Pool of Amarillo, TX; Brandon Pool of Amarillo, TX; Garrett Pool of Ft. Wainwright, AK; Lynsie (Pool) Moore of Amarillo, TX; Seth Koetting of Leila Lake, TX; Shandy Koetting Pearson of Happy, TX; Amanda Reynolds of Clarendon, TX; Adam Bahr of Columbia, TN; Alison (Bahr) Baldoni of Chicago, IL; and 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends “ of the coffee shop.”
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
