ROBERT “DON” WALLACE, age 75 of Amarillo, died December 1, 2012 in Amarillo.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Living Way Fellowship, 2800 South Eastern, with Rick Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Don was born May 14, 1937 in Amarillo to Elmer Franklin and Sally Melinda Wallace. He proudly served in the United States Army at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. He married the love of his life, Lynda Rose Martin in Kingsland, Georgia on January 9, 1961.
He and his family lived in several states before returning to Amarillo in 1973 when he began his home improvement business. He loved his occupation and worked every single day of his life, until the time of his death.
Don loved his Lord and served him passionately. He ministered to neighbors and friends at the Mariposa Community and was affectionately known as the “Bubble Gum Man” at Living Way Fellowship, greeting each and every person at church with a welcoming smile and bubble gum.
He treasured his family and especially his grandchildren. Don also studied natural and homeopathic medicine in an effort to keep himself and others as healthy as possible.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, Doug and Travis Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter Debbie Wellborn and husband David of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Elise “Little Girl” Wagner and husband Michael and Elaina “little Sister” Wellborn and a step-granddaughter, Emma Wagner.
The family suggests memorials to be made to Living Way Fellowship, 2500 South Eastern, Amarillo, Texas.
