Roberta Mager

Roberta Mager, 96, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington, Amarillo, TX 79102 with Rev. Scott Raef and Msgr. Harold Waldow, concelebrants. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Roberta, the youngest of ten children from J. Sam and Evelena Catherine Coker Gaines, was born on February 22, 1920 in Tulia. She graduated from Bovina High School and continued her education at Amarillo Business School, Amarillo College and West Texas State University studying business and accounting. She was office manager for the Amarillo Office of American Hospital and Life on the 9th floor of the Fisk Building when she met and married the love of her life, Neal Mager on October 5, 1951. His work took them to Washington, New York and back to Texas. In New York, Roberta attended the Carnegie Institute training and became a Dorothy Carnegie Course Instructor, teaching in New York, Texas, Colorado and Nebraska. Back in Texas, she returned to college and became a licensed Texas real estate broker associated with Coldwell Banker Realtors over twenty years until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral where she was involved in Bible Study and the "Young at Heart" senior club.  Roberta was also well known for her talent in poetry writing, needle work, and oil painting which she shared and gifted to many of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters and seven brothers.
Mrs. Mager is survived by two special sister-in-laws, Shirley Mager and Mary Mager; several special nieces and nephews, Lady Roberta Russ, Lanny Bryant, Missy Moore, Michelle Lamberson, Diane Lee, Dee Dee Tiffany, Bobbie Bodey, Steve Mager, Jeff Mager, Tere Gannaway, Andy Mager, and Amy Neeb, all of which were considered a real blessing in her life.
