Rodney Hromas, age 67 of Amarillo, was unexpectedly called to Heaven on June 28, 2023.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Llano Cemetery.
Rodney was born March 22, 1956 in Clovis to his parents, Oran Glenn and Glenn Alyne Barfield Hromas.
He graduated in 1974 from Bovina High School and was a Mustang forever! He then went on to graduate from Southwest Texas University with a B.S. in Education in 1978. He began a teaching career that would span decades. He spent twenty-five years at Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, where he taught English and journalism.
After retirement he came to Amarillo where he volunteered at the Globe Center for Performing Arts and at the Botanical Gardens. He also took up crocheting and blessed many family members with his beautiful creations. Rodney also worked as a transport driver for NWTH, where he was awarded Employee of the Month in November of 2022. He enjoyed serving people.
Rodney had a generous, loving and kind spirit. He cherished his family and some of his favorite time were spent at family gatherings. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved and he also enjoyed watching boxing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rodney is survived by his two brothers, Greg and Jeff Hromas; his sister-in-heart, Barbara Charles; his nephews, Alan, T.C, Ryan, and Kyle (Lunden); his great nephews Rylynn and Callaway; a great niece Icelyn; his aunt Lou Ann Cortese; and many loving cousins and friends.
