Ronald Fred Conner

R. Fred Conner, 83, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Fred was born February 1, 1930 in Eckert, Colorado to James and Viola Conner.  He graduated from Floydada High School in 1948 and West Texas State University in 1953 with a BBA in finance.  He married his beloved constant companion, Peggy Collier in Floydada in 1950.

Mr. Conner was the first County Auditor in Floyd County.  He served as Vice President of PCA in Plainview and President of First National Bank in Plainview.  He was also a commodities trader and independent insurance broker.  Fred was a veteran and served during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret and her husband, Millard Fourt; and two brothers, Robert and W. T. Conner.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; four daughters, Roxane Furnish and husband Bing of Guymon, Oklahoma, Rhonda Pritchard and husband Mike of Glendale, Arizona, Rochelle Ford and husband John, and Renetta Fletcher and husband Cory all of Amarillo; two brothers, Dr. Stanley Conner and wife Jan of Houston, and Roger Conner and wife Christine of Irving; two sisters-in law, Gwen Conner of Amarillo and Katie Conner of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Bret, Beau, Breanne, Dustin, Kaylee, Chase; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Rylee; and close friends, J. A. and Norma Deen Welch, who were considered as family.

Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 1 at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to The Alzheimers Association, 415 W. 8th, Suite 300, Amarillo, TX 79101 or to Paralyzed Veterans of America, Donation Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
