Rosella "Rose" May (Kennedy) Barnett

Rosella “Rose” May Kennedy Barnett, age 87 was born in Connellsville, PA to Catherine Anne and Ross Andrew Kennedy.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hillside Christian Church Chapel West with Pastor Greg Corona officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas.
Rose graduated from Dunbar High School in 1951 and moved to Washington, D.C. shortly after to perform clerical work for the government.  Her beauty was soon recognized, and she became a model for the Washington Post and for several fashion designers in the Georgetown area.
Rose married the love of her life, James Barnett in 1957 and had two children, the family lived in Silver Spring, MD. Rose moved to Amarillo, TX in 1976 following the death of her husband.  She attended St. Paul Methodist Church where she was also the church secretary.  She was a greeter at Sam’s club and worked in real estate sales in the 80’s and 90’s. Rose enjoyed playing cards and the fellowship of her many friends and family. She also enjoyed playing golf especially with her special friend Jim Farmer.  She was a beautiful person inside and out and was an active member at Hillside Christian Church.
Rose is survived by her daughter Roxanne Barnett Weigel and husband Kyle of Etna, OH, son Tracy Barnett and wife Tina of San Angelo, TX, two grandchildren, Ansley Nicole Barnett of Dumas and James William Barnett of San Angelo, one great grandson, Brayden Vincent, and one on the way.  She is survived by step granddaughter Kali Adams (Weigel), husband John and step great granddaughter Amy.  She is also survived by her sister, Celia Morris of Houston and numerous nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews.
