Roy Edsel Ford

Mr. Ford was born September 2, 1931, in Northern Curry County, New Mexico to Roy    Ellis and Ocie Pilliam Ford. He graduated from Rosedale High School, New Mexico in 1950 and attended New Mexico A&M at Las Cruces, New Mexico.He was a Korean Veteran, serving in the U.S Army. After his discharge he was employed at White Sands, New Mexico. He retired from the Calanese Chemical Plant in Pampa, Texas on September 1, 1992 after 37 years.He married Dorris Dunavant Evans in Amarillo, Texas on Dcember 21, 1986. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church. He served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. He loved to travel in their motorhome, fish, play golf, and Square dance.He is survived by his wife, Dorris of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Robinson of Kingston, Oklahoma; Linda McDonald and husband, Kenneth of Ardmore, Oklahoma;Two sons, Randy Ford of Pampa, Texas, Wade Ford of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Elvin Ford and wife, Margaret of Clovis, New Mexico; Gary Ford and wife, Donna of Broadview, New Mexico; four grandsons, Dustin Converse, Clint Lowe, Cory Lowe all of Kingston, Oklahoma; Cody Lowe of Duncan, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Cristin Lowe of Kingston, Oklahoma, Melissa Robinson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two stepdaughters, LeAnne Prestridge and husband, Johnny, Gay Holcomb and husband, Gary all of Amarillo; one step grandson, Brandon Hefner of Austin, Texas; two step granddaughters, Christie Hefner and Abby Holcomb of Amarillo; three great grandsons; four great granddaughters ,and one great step granddaughter.The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the Ussery - Roan Texas Veteran Home, and Odyssey Hospice Health care for their compassion and loving care.The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 pm at the Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Meals on Wheels, 219 W. 7th Amarillo, Texas 79101; American Parkinson’s Disease Association, c/o Amarillo Parkinson’s  Association  PO.
