Roy Everett Maddux

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4 at Llano Cemetery. Ernie King will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Doc was born July 6, 1917 in Wills Point, Texas. He spent most of his time in New Mexico and Tennessee, returning to Amarillo in 1997. He served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was the owner and manager of Maddux Monument Company in Roswell, NM. Some of his accomplishments during his life were serving as justice of the peace in Truth or Consequences, NM, twice named Teacher of the Year at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, TN, opening Sunshine Health Foods in Murfreesboro in the early 1970’s, and retiring from Herbs and Vitamins in Dickson, TN in 1997. Although unable to attend church in his later years, he was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his sister Mildred Maddux-Carr and two granddaughters, Kristin Maddux and Lora Lynn Henslee.
He is survived by his children, Janet Sloan and husband Joe of Nashville, TN; Fred J. Maddux and wife Micki of Clarksville, TN; James N. Maddux of Isla Majaras, Mexico; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
