Roy L. Thompson

November 4, 1923 — March 31, 2012

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.  Celebrant will be Msgr. Harold Waldow.  Rosary will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Roy served as a Marine in World War II.  He married Rosie Wollenberg on February 25, 1949 in Hanover, Kansas.  They moved to Amarillo in 1958.  He was a groomer at Alberty Animal Hospital and a security guard at American National Bank.  He enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening and wood working.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an usher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie M. Thompson in 1991; his parents, one brother and one sister.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Keen of Palm Harbor, FL and Mary Carder and husband, Mike of Amarillo; two sons, Mike Thompson of Amarillo, and Joe Thompson and wife Tammye of Amarillo; four sisters Rose Lemons of Denver, Co., Lola King of Amarillo, Georgia Kachiros of Amarillo, and Dora Feck of St. Petersburg, FL; one brother, Tom Thompson of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Chrystal, Kristin, Jinny, Jeff, Brandon, Marley, Scott, Todd, Matt and one great-grandchild, Camron.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
