Rual Douglas Heaton

September 19, 1935 — September 18, 2009

Mr. Heaton was born in Ada, Oklahoma on September 19, 1935 to Dora Henry and Robert Heaton.  He joined the Army at age 17 and served 22 years.  He married Barbara Cobb Reid on June 12, 1968.  He farmed a few months.  He also owned and operated a restaurant “The Bushland Café” and a gas station “Exon” for 18 months. Then he went to work for the Post Office and worked there for 22 years before retiring.  He also was a crosswalk guard on South Georgia and was 100% disabled veteran.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two infant sisters, and three brothers, Robert Ray, Leroy and Don.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Melba Jean Heaton; sons, Tim and wife Cori of Amarillo, and Randy Reid of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Bethany and Drake Reid and mother Cara, Brandon and Dustin Reid and mother Marilyn, also, Mark Douglass, Max, Grace, and Martha Jane Heaton; eight great-grandchildren and sister-in-law LaVonne Heaton of Maurice, LA.
