Ruby Little

Ruby Little, 100, of Amarillo, Texas died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Private family interment will be in Llano Cemetery with Pastor Bill Ivins as officiant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Ruby Inez Patton was born in southern Illinois on July 14, 1920, to Bratcher and Ella Patton, the second oldest of eight children. From an early age, Ruby spent her entire life taking care of others, always selflessly working to ensure everyone around her was well-loved and well-fed with her famous home cooking.  Ruby was blessed to meet, fall in love with, and marry three special men in her life, all of whom preceded her in death. In 1940, she married Earl Jacobs, and they lived a long, happy life together in Illinois, California, and eventually settled in Texas. In 1978, she married J. B. Collier, with whom she got to welcome and delight in the joys of grandchildren. In 1994, she met and married John Little, enjoying travels to Colorado, New Mexico, and many other parts of the country.

Ruby was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a member of Esther Circle.   She very much enjoyed her time spent with United Methodist Women and with the Caring Christians Sunday School Class. Ruby was also active in the Widowed Persons Service Organization.

Ruby is survived by a son, Randy Jacobs of Amarillo, and a daughter, Bonnie Dawson and her husband, Berkley Dawson, of San Antonio. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Sybil Westmoreland and her husband Daniel; Jennie Hart and her husband Ben, all of San Antonio; and Andrew Jacobs of Dallas. Ruby adored her 6 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers: George Patton and wife, Irma, of Santa Clarita, California; and Joe Patton and wife, Jo Ann, of Hilliard, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Brenda Jesko of Muleshoe, Texas; and a stepson, Richard Little, of Hawaii; as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity or to St. Paul United Methodist Church of Amarillo.
