Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl with platinum blond hair and sparkling blue eyes named Ruby Ann Etta. She was born on October 19, 1930 to Cecil and Golda Rumburg in the Ozarks of Missouri. When Ruby was young, she moved around quite a bit. She lived in different parts of Missouri and also lived in Colorado. While she was still a teenager, Ruby met and married Clyde Raymond Wicks. They were married for 52 years before he passed away in 1998. They raised two children together Phil and Sandy.
Ruby loved a cold glass of milk, a hot cup of coffee, picking blackberries, rocking babies, Redbud trees, taking road trips, fried catfish, feeding anyone who was hungry, the National Enquirer, Stephen King, Ogden Nash, singing, dancing the polka, Willie Nelson, Christy Lane, taking her grandchildren to the drive-in movies, rock collecting, driving in a semi-truck, riding in her son’s police car, all things Native American, shopping with her daughter, bingo, camping, sewing, frogs…
On August 18, 2014, her earthly story ended and she went to meet Jesus, her husband, her parents and step-parents, her Grandma Rosie and her Grandma Mercer, her sister Barbara, her brother Tony, her best friends Nola and Violet, and many, many others.
She is waiting for her children: Phil Wicks and wife Cindy of O’Fallon, MO, Sandra Lynch and husband Richard of Amarillo, TX, her sisters: Wanda Rayfield of Wentzville, MO, and Thelma Sorensen of Katy, TX, her grandchildren: Phillip Wicks and his wife Lori of Pontoon Beach, IL, Eric Fuss of Los Angeles, CA, Adam Wicks and his wife Michelle of St. Peters, MO, Christina Painter and her husband Johnny of Amarillo, TX, and Daniel Wicks of O’Fallon, MO, her great-grandchildren; Zachary Wicks, Sarah and Brandon Doudera, Britainy, Tristan, and Jackson Fuss, Garrett and Addison Wicks, and Nathan and Sarah Sanchez, and many special family members and friends. We miss her already.
