Rubye E. Vehon, 85 years old of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, in Llano Cemetery East. Chaplain Jerry Bell will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
Rubye was born September 11, 1927 on a farm near Canute and Foss, Oklahoma to Paul and Lottie McEntire. She married Tommy Vehon in Amarillo on November 14, 1975. She was a homemaker that devoted her life to caring for her family.
The family wishes to thank BSA Hospice nurses and Legend Nursing Home and staff for much patience and care shown to Rubye during her final days of this journey called life. We will miss you “Ma’am Ma”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; her only daughter, Loretta; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Randall Austin and Richard Austin, both of Amarillo; three sisters, Mickie, Lelia, and Vina; one brother, Doyle; seven grandchildren, Glen, Ritchie, Desiree, Dennis, Sondra, Steph and Monica; 17 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
