Ruth Denham

Ruth was born in Childress Co., TX to T.C. & Edna Gilbert. She was third born to a family of nine siblings.
When she graduated high school from Westview in Harmon Co, OK she started her 36 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Amarillo. When she retired in 1980 she remained active in the Telephone Pioneers, participating in their numerous volunteer projects as well as other volunteer work until her failing health.
Ruth married Edwin Eugene Denham in Amarillo on April 2, 1966. He preceded her in death in March 1985.
She taught a Ladies Sunday school class for several years at Highland Baptist Church before becoming a member of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church and the Ambassadors for Christ Sunday school class. She was a past member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Federated Women’s Club and Bonnes Amies Club.
Ruth loved her Lord, church, family and many friends. She enjoyed her Precious Moment collection of nearly 500 figurines. She lived her life to the fullest and always kept a positive attitude through her many surgeries and health problems. She always felt blessed to have been raised on a farm in a loving home by wonderful Christian parents. She loved to travel. She postponed cancer surgery in 1997 to take a planned Alaskan Cruise to complete her travels to all 50 states. She also traveled to several foreign countries.
She has gone to join her mother, dad, her husband Ed, a brother Cawood and a sister Joyce Penington in that pain free Heavenly Home.
The survivors who will miss her dearly are a daughter, Patti D’ann Quirez and husband Wayne of Oklahoma City, OK; three sons, Michael Edwin Denham and wife Cyndi and Gary Wendel Denham all of Amarillo and Joe Paul Denham of Missouri; two step-sons, David Eugene Denham of Borger and Rodger Glenn Denham and wife Maggie of Slaton, TX; one sister, Mae Hollis of Amarillo; five brothers, Eddie Gilbert and wife Joyce of Bella Vista, AR, Bill Gilbert and wife Helen of Veneta, OR, Ray Gilbert and wife Sue of Bella Vista, AR, Lainial Gilbert and wife Nelda of Altus, OK, Allen Gilbert and wife Barbara of Hollis, OK, fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
