Longtime Longmont resident, Ruth Rose died in Amarillo Texas on December 30, 2011 at 94 years of age.
She was born in Raton, New Mexico on April 15, 1917 to Amelia (Turner) and William H. Devenny.
Ruth moved to Denver at the age of 15 and graduated from Denver Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.
She married Longmont native, John W. (Jack) Rose on July 23, 1940. They were members of the First United Methodist Church.
Together they have three daughters. Carol (Plopper) of Woodland Park, Margaret (Hoben) of Amarillo, Texas and Anne Elaine (Goudelock) of Clovis CA. She is also survived by three son-in-laws; Chuck, Jack and David. Also, six grandchildren survive her: Brett Springer and Danielle Ramirez-Eguia; Bryan Hoben and Amy Saucedo; Garth and Ian Goudelock.
Also surviving are five great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Alexandra Hoben, Anthony and Jose III (Joey) Saucedo, and Ruby Isabella (Bella) Ramirez-Eguia.
Ruth is also survived by her step-sister, Beth Kiteley of Longmont. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Moore and Ellen Rumley; a brother, Billy.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1986. With Jack, she provided a foster care home in Longmont, for over 130 children during a 35 year span. Ruth also served as a ‘pink lady’ at Longmont United Hospital: 9,223 hours Mom was also an avid reader, puzzler, quilter and world traveler.
Ruth’s favorite charity was The Tiny Tim Center of Longmont, 611 Korte Pkwy, Longmont, CO 80501.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
