The family will receive guests at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 5 pm to 6 pm. A Prayer Vigil will start at 6 pm. The Rosary will be said beginning at 6:30 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11 am, at the church with Revered John Valdez presiding. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery East.
Scott Alan Ankeney was born on June 3, 1969, in Torrington, Wyoming to David G. Ankeney Sr and Marsha (Stienmetz) Ankeney. The family moved to the Texas Panhandle where Scott would graduate from Hereford High School in 1987. Immediately after graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During this time Scott would find his career path as a boiler tech aboard the USS Midway and USS Duluth. On July 18, 1992, Scott and Mary Jesko exchanged vows and began their life together.
Scott was a boiler technician all of his life. After his service in the Navy he worked as a Service Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah and Missoula, Montana. Upon hearing his son Ben was expecting his first child, he and Mary sold their home with no hesitation and moved to Amarillo, Texas, to be nearer to their grandchildren. It was here in 2012 that Scott and Mary began High Plains Boiler Service. Together they were members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and Scott served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Scott was incredibly intelligent and had a love for learning. Scott loved to fly his plane, travel the world with his wife and family, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. And if you knew Scott, you know he had a great sense of humor.
Scott was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Mary; sons Ben Palmer and wife Lindsey; Rick Palmer and wife Twyla; grandchildren Devan, Quinn, Lily, and Lexi; parents David and Marsha; brother David and wife Kari; and many extended family and dear friends.
