Sharon Kay Smart

Sharon Kay Smart, 79, of Amarillo passed away June 30, 2015.

Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2015 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Valdez as celebrant. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.

Sharon was born to Allen and Catherine Bellah on June 12, 1936 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. On August 26, 1987 she married Ben Smart at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a founding member.

Sharon was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy. She was a gifted artist studying under Sister Alphonsine at the academy. Sharon continued to paint throughout her life. She retired as an Executive Assistant from Catholic Family Services in 2003, and was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, currently the Texas Nu Master Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Phillip Dixon.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Ben Smart; daughter, Janet King and husband Jeff; daughter Denise Sova and husband Don; a stepdaughter, Janet Smart; a stepson, Steve Smart and wife Natalie; grandsons, Gregory and Hunter King; a step granddaughter, Jade Smart; a sister, Janice Goodin and husband Darrell; a brother, Michael Bellah and wife Cathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
