Sherie Gunn Faulkner, age 77, of Amarillo, entered the Gates of Heaven on Friday, April 7th, 2023.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 15th, at 10:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church. Pastor Anthony B. Harris and Minister Jeffery Dailey will officiate. Private inurnment will be held at Llano Cemetery.
Sherie was born January 30th, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to her parents, Yorke John and Margaret Mae Gunn. Sherie was a beautiful person from the inside out. She had a charming personality and a smile that was warm and welcoming. Sherie attended OU before graduating from West Texas State University with a degree in education. During her time at university, she was a member of Alpha Phi.
Sherie moved to the Amarillo area in 2000 and taught for AISD, retiring after twenty years of service.
In 2008 she found love with John Faulkner. The two eloped to Santa Fe on September 18th, 2008, which began a love story that would last the next fifteen years. The couple enjoyed spending time in nature, hiking, and picnicking together until Sherie’s health declined. They complimented one another and were very happy together.
You can’t mention Sherie without mentioning Ashley, her beloved daughter. They were very involved in each other’s lives. It was not unusual for them to speak on the phone numerous times during the day. Ashley brought Sherie so much joy; the two were best of friends. There was nothing they did not share.
Sherie loved big, and she loved fiercely. Her family was everything to her, and she had a way of making everyone feel important and loved. She would do anything for those she held close, including fighting for them. If you were a part of her life, you were family. That included her two little rescue pups, Rosie and Ellie.
Sherie was a beautiful force of nature, taken from this life too soon and will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sherie is survived by her husband, John Faulkner; by her daughter, Ashley Braboy Rogers and her husband Kent of Canyon; by two bonus daughters, Melanie Dougherty and her husband Clint of Albuquerque, and Amy Carter and her husband Michael of San Antonio; her beloved puppies, Rosie and Ellie; and by four bonus grandchildren, Ben Cargo, Hannah McMurry, Griffin Carter, and Faith Carter.
