Sherri Ann Reynolds

Sherri Reynolds, 57, of Amarillo died December 25, 2020.

Sherri Reynolds was born May 18, 1963 to Paul and Noveta Gross at Seminole, Texas. She attended early schooling in Seminole, Big Spring, and Lubbock before moving to Amarillo with her family in 1977. Sherri graduated from Amarillo High School in 1981. She graduated from West Texas A & M with a Bachelors’ Degree and Masters’ Degree in Education. She had completed her course work toward a PHD from Texas Tech before being diagnosed with Parkinson Syndrome. Sherri and Dudley Reynolds were married September 24, 1990 in McLean, TX, two daughters were born to this union, Kayli and Christine.

Sherri began her teaching career at Oakdale Elementary School and continued for seven years. She loved her work and interaction with her students. In 2006-2007 school year her peers voted her Oakdale teacher of the year. On her nomination for this honor, a quotation from one of her students stated at the time “She is the Best Teacher I ever had”.

She was a strong supporter of her childrens’ activities. Beginning early with sports activities in Kids’ Inc, Little Dribblers’, AAU basketball and later Kayli’s playing basketball at Amarillo High and Christine at Bushland High School. She was very involved in their 4H club activities and especially their show program involving their beef heifers and barrows not only in their local Randall County program, but successful competing at stock shows in Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. As a youth, Sherri was an outstanding 4H Club member participating in method demonstrations,  showing animals, cooking,  record books, and especially for raising funds for the State 4H Center in Brownswood.

Before her illness, Sherri was baptized at Polk St.United Methodist Church. She and Dudley attended Hillside Christian Church where Sherri served her Sunday School class as presiding Host.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Dudley; daughters- Kayli Simon and her husband, Justin, and Christine Reynolds; parents Paul and Noveta Gross; siblings – Greg Gross, Gordon Gearn, Gina Herd and Jeff, Lisa Barbour and husband Todd; granddaughter- Riley Jo Simon; nieces – Jenna Herd Bass and husband Aaron and Colette Bass; nephews-Tyler Herd, Keldon Barbour, Cooper Barbour and Payton Barbour.

The family wishes to thank her Amarillo Medical teams and Staff and her early diagnostic team at Scott & White Clinic in Temple and U.T. Southwest Clinic in Dallas. A special thanks to Rana Harvard for love and helpful care.

Private family services were held in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
