Shirley Jean Brooks, age 65 of Claude died July 2, 2015.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at The First Baptist Church of Claude with Pastor Robert Burton of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Amarillo officiating, Burial will be in Groom Cemetery in Groom, Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, Amarillo.
Shirley was born November 15, 1949 in Memphis, Texas to Chester and Dorothy Moore. Shirley spent most of her adult life in the restaurant business, whether it was waiting tables or owning the business she kept her customers happy. She never met a stranger and made those around her feel welcome.
Shirley was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren; she was not what you would call your “average nana!” She was full of energy and participated in the grandchildren’s activities. She encouraged them in a way only she could and was known for speaking her mind.
She loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar and her pets.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; by her son, Chad Brooks; and by two grandchildren, Lane and Tonni.
She is survived by her three daughters, LeeSa Brooks of Canyon, Shantelle Madison of Cordell, OK and Bobbie Caffee and her husband Jason of White Deer; two sisters Kim Goldsmith and her husband Steve of White Deer and Holly McCleskey and her husband Willie of Clarendon; two brothers, Dallas Moore and his wife Elizabeth of Lelia Lake and Gary Moore and his wife Sheila of Amarillo; by her ex-husband who remained her best friend, Robert Brooks of Elk City, OK; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Shirley will be in state on Monday July 6th at Schooler Funeral Home, Armstrong Chapel in Claude from 10:00AM until 8PM and the family will be there to receive guests that evening from 5PM until 6PM.
