Shirley A. Duncan age 79 of Amarillo died August 29, 2015 in Amarillo.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. A Private burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Shirley was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 23, 1935 to George and Beulah Machtolff. On July 9, 1952 she and her love, Eugene Duncan snuck off to Tucumcari and got married. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
As a young military wife, Shirley became very adaptable. She learned early you should never stop learning and you should always help others. She maintained that adaptability throughout her life. At one time she owned Shirley’s Ceramics; she also was a reflexologist and later became an endio cardiogram technician. She never stopped learning and was always pursuing something new and interesting. Shirley enjoyed all the new technology and was referred to as “cyber-granny.”
Shirley loved people. She found that by volunteering her time she could serve others and did so at the Downtown Women’s Center and was a member of the Art’s Unlimited Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Eugene; her daughter Sue and her husband Andy Anderson; her grandson Jonathan Anderson all of Amarillo; and her sister Joy Loftness of Clinton, OK.
The family suggest memorial donations be made to BSA Hospice or the Amarillo Humane Society.
