SHIRLEY ANN FIELDS, 83 of Groom, died January 10 in Amarillo
FUNERAL SERVICES will be Tuesday, January 13th at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Groom. Pastors Andy Dietz and Byron Williamson will officiate. Burial will be at the Groom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Shirley was born in Groom on October 31, 1931 to Irwin and Gladys Anglin. She married Billy Fields in Groom on June 5, 1948. The family made their home in the Grandview area where they farmed. She was a dedicated homemaker caring for the farm and family alike. She loved to paint, garden, travel and dolls; she was a talented artist and a member of the Brush and Palette Club for many years. Many member s of the family and the Groom community have her paintings. She got her love of gardening from her mother, Gladys who was always in her yard tending to her garden. Even after the death of Billy in 1999, Shirley continued to enjoy traveling and went on cruises with her family. She also enjoyed collecting dolls Shirley was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Groom where she served as organist until just a few years ago.
Shirley had many talents and passions; however the joy of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She followed all of their activities and would light up when the kids came to visit her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her Husband Billy, two sisters, Joy Anglin and Yolanda Dye; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Anglin and great granddaughter, Alice Jean Detten.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Billy Keith Fields and his wife Shirley Jean of Groom, Ronny Fields and his wife Linda of Groom and Barry Fields and his wife Carole of Pampa; and her daughter Debbie Ollinger and her husband Kelvin of Groom; her brother, Leon Anglin of San Antonio; eleven grandchildren, Shannon, Matthew, Kim, Roni, Stacy, Brenda, Stephanie, Dean, Chris, Doug and Lance; eighteen great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Groom Ambulance Service Fund or the Billy Fields Scholarship Fund through the Amarillo Area Foundation.
