Shirley Jean Heim AGE: 68 Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Msg. Tash will officiate. The Rosary is at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Omaha, Nebraska.Shirley Heim 68, passed on October 8, 2010 in Amarillo, Texas. She was an accomplished musician, played the piano and the accordion at an early age. In the 1950’s Shirley was influenced by the family floral business and developed a love and talent for flowers and floral design. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Omaha. She then attended Loretta Heights College in Denver, Co., with an emphasis on music and teaching. She married Ensign David L. Heim, USN on June 8, 1963. They then moved to Denver, Co in 1967. In the late 1960’s, Shirley volunteered at Fitzsimmons Army hospital to attend to wounded soldiers returning from Vietnam. Shirley taught school in Omaha, Southern California, and Amarillo. Shirley and family lived in Germany from 1976 to 1979 and traveled extensively. Shirley’s family moved back to Denver in 1979, she became involved in an organization to help underprivileged girls. She enjoyed coaching both soccer and cheerleading. Shirley and David moved to Amarillo, Texas in October of 1990. Shirley received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from West Texas A&M. Her last teaching assignment was at Alamo Catholic Middle School and Holy Cross Catholic Academy. Shirley and David enjoyed golf, fishing and bridge and other activities together. David and family thank all of our family, friends, and the Odyssey Hospice nurses and staff for all their loving support during this difficult time.She is preceded in death by her father, Edward J Moravec.Survivors include husband, David; daughter, Dorothy E Heim of Oklahoma City; sons, Edward Heim of Dubronik, Croatia and Robert Heim of Yorba Linda, CA; Mother Regina Moravec of Omaha, NE; and 5 grandchildren.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Susan G.
