Silas Ballard “S. B.” Crain, II, 89, of Amarillo died Monday, July 08, 2013.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Elder James Baker, pastor, Primitive Baptist Church, Borger, Texas and Dr. Charles Jones of Hollywood Rd. Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Tell Cemetery, Tell Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mr. Crain was born October 9, 1923 in Hall County, Texas to Claude and Birdie Crain. He married Mary Bryant on April 15, 1980 in Childress. S.B. worked two full time jobs, Cook Book Bakery for 25 years and ASARCO for 30 years. Some of his enjoyment came from traveling, taking pictures, and talking with everyone.
S.B. was preceded in death by two sons, Jess Alton Crain and Lee Davis Crain, and a granddaughter, Elise Keely Carlton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Crain, three daughters, Kathleen Frederick and husband Buster of Ft. Worth, Arleen Carlton and husband Rusty of Amarillo, and Darleen Cheverier and husband Mike of Amarillo, a step daughter, Jan Bryant Davis of Amarillo, a step-son, Mike Bryant of Amarillo, four sisters, Sandy Aultman and husband Donnie of Dallas, Maxine Atkinson of Dallas, Claudine Perry of Amarillo, and Fern Powers of Washington State, a brother Bob Crain and wife Cheryl of Amarillo, four grandchildren, David Frederick, Nicole Frederick, Craig Carlton, and Alexandra Chase, five step grandchildren, Cassi Risseeuw, Cyndi Hulsey, Christa Hobbs, Chris Bryant, Shawna Hancock, and one great grandchild, Ashley Frederick.
Family suggests memorials be made to the Elise Keely Carlton Scholarship Fund c/o the Amarillo Little Theatre, 2019 Civic Circle, Amarillo, Texas 79109
