Smitty Shelton, 72, of Canyon died June 29, 2014.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Westlawn Cemetery with Pastor LaVon Thompson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Smitty was born January 10, 1942 in Higgins, Tx to C.W. and Annie Shelton. They moved to Borger in 1945. He graduated from Borger High School in 1960. He married Joyce Chapman August 15, 1963 in Borger. Smitty worked for Phillips Petroleum for 29 years. They lived in Borger until 2008 when they moved to Canyon. There was nothing he could not build or fix, this was his life’s work. His passion was fixing anything. He will be missed greatly, especially his knowledge and his dry humor, and in his own way the love and caring he showed to close friends and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Jim and Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his son, Kevin Shelton and wife Leslie, his brothers, Phil and David Shelton, his sister, Carol Moore, and his grandson, Mark.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 PM-7:30PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
