STEPHEN “STEVE” LEROY DeALESSIO, age 77 of Amarillo died July 24, 2011.
Per Steve’s request, there will be no services.
Steve was the second of five boys born to the late Anthony and Martha Krenius DeAlessio in New Milford, Connecticut on July 10, 1934. He graduated from New Milford High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army in West Germany, during the height of the Cold War; attaining the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was an accomplished mechanic and skilled machinist. He worked for Kimberly Clark Corporation in Connecticut for 19 years. After moving to Amarillo he worked at A-Tex. Machine Shop until his retirement. Steve loved to talk so much that his father would ask the doctor if he was vaccinating him with a Victrola needle! In addition, he enjoyed reading history/western books and was a fabulous cook.
Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Jr. of Amarillo and Martin of Brookfield, CT.
He is survived by his daughter Stephanie and husband Paul Chiapppa of Harwinton, Connecticut; grandson Bryce DeAlessio and his wife, Tyna and a great-grandson, Stephen Paul all of Plainview, Connecticut; 2 brothers, John DeAlesssio & wife Judy of New Milford, Connecticut and George DeAlessio & wife Cassandra of Washington, Connecticut; along with many other loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Family suggest memorials be made in Steve’s honor to the V.A. Hospital, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd. Amarillo, Texas 79106.
