Stephen J. Chontos

Stephen John Chontos, 88, of Amarillo died June 16, 2021.

Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm, Monday, June 21, 2021 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Stephen was born August 2, 1932 in Carteret, NJ. He was an Army Veteran who proudly served his country. He enjoyed playing the horses, bowling and taking cross country road trips with his family. He loved watching his grandkids play sports and would yell, “Who’s your Grandpa” at every opportunity! Stephen worked for Asarco for 37 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Rosalie Chontos; a son Michael Chontos and wife Lisa; a granddaughter Stefanie Smith and husband James; a grandson Austin Chontos; a great grandson Hudson Smith and by his only remaining sibling Julie Baio of Monroe Township, NJ.
