Sue Wallace George, 75, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 19, 2015.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Temple Baptist Church, 3208 S. Van Buren St., with the Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Sue was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Amarillo to L.A. and Christine Wallace. She graduated from Dalhart High School in 1958 and attended college at West Texas State University.
Sue worked at Heath Furniture for 17 years before she retired in 2002. She was active in the community as well. It brought her great joy to help others. She was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha-Rho Alpha Chapter 2 sorority where she served in all offices. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile serving as Queen in 2001.
Becoming “Momma Sue” to her grandchildren and many others that she met was her greatest joy after retirement. She had a way of making people feel like family, blessing visitors with amazing stories and her homemade desserts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Linda Wallace, Bettye Hughes and Carol Hoyo.
Survivors include three daughters, Krystal Doss and husband David of Seabrook, Pamela May and husband Dudley of Houston and Theresia Vogel of Odessa; a son, John George and wife Kim of Amarillo; three sisters, Donna Henderson and husband Paul of Dalhart, Peggy Walker of Amarillo and Eva Donovan of Fairfax, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
