Susie June Charlton

Susie June (Hagee) Charlton, of Amarillo, died October 5, 2012.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 10 from 6-8:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Angus Cemetery in Lincoln County, NM beside her husband and parents.  Many of her family are interred there, including her Hagee grandparents and her sister, Louise.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

She was born June 24, 1918 in Alto, New Mexico, to W.T. (Scot) Hagee and Lena Belle (Easley) Hagee. She married Harry James Charlton December 27, 1935 in Clovis, New Mexico. She graduated from Capitan High School, in Capitan, New Mexico in 1936 and moved to the Claud Community north of Clovis where they had a wheat farm for many years.

She was a long time member of the Claud Rainy Day Club. She and Harry sold their farm and bought property between Willard and Estancia, New Mexico about 1971 and lived there until his death. She was a member of the New Mexico CowBelles during that time. After her husband's death she moved to Los Lunas, New Mexico to be closer to her youngest son and his family. About 1993 she moved to Amarillo and bought a home close to her daughter and her husband.

She had many interests and hobbies that kept her busy and active.  In 2006, she moved into the Ware Living Center where she received the best care for the past 5 years.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to the staff at Cherry II, Ware Living Center as well as the BSA Hospice staff for their loving care of “June Bug”.

She was predeceased by her husband Harry J. Charlton on October 19, 1982; father W.T. (Scot) Hagee on December 22, 1982; mother Lena Bell (Easley) Hagee on July 5, 1961; sisters Ilene Louise (Hagee) Fitts January 28, 2004, Betty Jean (Hagee) Decker in September of 1960 and Betty's husband Richard C. Decker on April 14, 1990.

She is survived by : two sons,  H. Gael and wife Paula M. of Greenville, TX, and Gerald B. (Jerry) and wife Mary Lee of Bosque Farms, NM; a daughter Sandra J. (Sandy) and husband Johnnie R. Wright, of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Jon A. Charlton of Sydney, Australia, Colin T. Charlton and wife Jonikka of McAllen, TX, Gerald A. Charlton' and wife Maria Teresa (Tess), C. Brian Charlton  all of Albuquerque,  Gregory A. Charlton and wife Sarah A. of Las Cruces, NM, and B. Tyler Harrington and wife Kelly of Frisco, TX, Eddie R. Wright and wife, Michelle of Tijeras, NM, Sammie K. Wright and wife Boonsong of Las Vegas NV; seven great-grandchildren, Ian G, and Duncan S. Charlton of McAllen, TX, Victoria M., Michaela E. and Amanda N. Charlton of Albuquerque, NM, Dominic and Olivia Charlton of Las Cruces, NM and Sydney G. Harrington and Keera A. Harrington of Frisco, TX; a sister Margaret (Maggie) Hagee; a brother, William R. (Bill) Hagee and wife Grace and brother-in-law William D. (Bill) Fitts all of Tularosa, NM; many nieces, nephews and friends.
