Syble ‘Mimi’ Benge, 96, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Amarillo.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the First Christian Church Chapel, 3001 Wolflin Avenue, with the Rev. Barry Loving, pastor officiating. Arrangements are with Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Syble was born on July 29, 1920 in Big Lake, Texas to Martin Dudley Lucas and Mildred McDermett. On March 11, 1940, she married Ralph Benge, the love of her life, in San Angelo. Syble and Ralph enjoyed traveling to the mountains every summer. They also had a lake home at Greenbelt Lake for many years where Syble enjoyed her children, grandchildren and friends most every weekend. They were married for 71 years until his passing in September of 2011. Syble was employed for many years as a sales clerk for various dress shops and perfumeries in Amarillo. She and Ralph were long time members of First Christian Church of Amarillo. Syble’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Syble is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hassell and husband Gary of Amarillo; two sons, Holmes Benge and wife Nam Hui of Tacoma, WA and Ray Benge and wife Bobbie of Wright, WY; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 13, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.
