Thelma Lee Sutton, age 86, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 20th at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, August 19, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Mrs. Sutton was born September 30, 1925 in Wellington, Texas, to Thomas and Tommie Lee Raper. She was employed by Furr Food Inc. for 20 years as a meat wrapper.
Thelma was blessed to have shared love with three husbands. She married John D. Calcote on November 27, 1943 in Wellington, he was killed in combat during WWII in Okinawa, thus making her a Gold Star wife; Lee Roy Blackshear on February 26, 1947 in Silverton; and William J. Sutton, March 8, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Thelma loved life and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John D. Calcote in 1945, Lee Roy Blackshear in 1948, and William J. Sutton in 1989; four brothers, Ted, Ocie, Leon and TC Raper; six sisters, Claudine, Lida Mae, Irene, Dorothy, June, and Virgie.
She is survived by three sons, David L. Calcote and wife, Traci, of Arlington, TX, William J. Sutton, Jr. and wife, Sherri, of Ft. Worth, and Richard L. Sutton of Williow Springs, NC; three daughters, Sharon K. Gipson and husband, Truitt, of Kennesaw, GA, Elizabeth A. Ward of Euless, TX, and Mary Lisa Fleming and husband, Gerry, of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Tip Raper; and sisters, Neva Slayton and Joye Thompson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
