Thelma B. Taylor

Graveside services will be Monday, January 16th, at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Messer officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Thelma was born December 6, 1924, in Temple, Texas, to Cecil and Mae Bennett. She was raised in Temple and graduated from Temple High School. After high school, Thelma graduated from a local secretarial school and began working for the Civil Service during WW II. Thelma continued working for the government for many years and retired in 2003 from the Adult Probation Office in Canyon, Texas.
Thelma married Moody Aubrey Taylor on May 9, 1946, in Temple, Texas.
She enjoyed living close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was lovingly known as “Grandmother Taylor.” She enjoyed playing bridge with family and friends. Thelma attended the First Christian Church before becoming a resident at Childers Place.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers at Childers Place and Hospice Care of the Southwest for taking such wonderful care of her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Moody Aubrey in 1987, and a son, Gary Blair in 1990.
Survivors include one daughter Jan Bell and her husband Joe of Amarillo; five grandchildren Teri and Kam DeLeon of Dallas, TX, Mat and Jaime Taylor of Ft. Collins, CO, Cleat Bell of Flower Mound, TX, Miles and Eloise Bell of Vega, TX, and Brennen and Leslie Bell of Amarillo, TX; four great-grandchildren, Vincent DeLeon, Cora Bell, Miley Bell, and Jaylee Bell; a sister Gwen Rae Foley and husband W.A. of Angleton, TX; a sister-in-law Olean Vaughn and her husband Bill of Arlington, TX; a brother-in-law W.W. Spoonts of Temple, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 on Sunday, January 15, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
