He was born in Arkansas City, KS on April 21, 1942. He began school in Lawton, Oklahoma, then moved to Altus half way into his 1st grade year. He lived in many places before settling in Amarillo during the 4th grade in 1951. Ted graduated from Amarillo High School in 1960 and started taking classes at Amarillo College following graduation. He soon realized college was not what he wanted to persue so he went to work for the Burrough's Corp. as a Field Engineer.

In November 1963, Ted married Ann Hermesmeyer from Groom. He was born in love with her.

In 1968, he was transferred to Detroit to teach new employees how to operate and fix the new machines. After a while there, he then decided Detroit was not where he wanted to raise his family and started school at Texas Tech in Lubbock, transferred to West Texas State University in Canyon in the summer of 1968. Ted received his MS in Biology in 1972; and took a teaching job in Erick, Oklahoma where he taught in numerous locations in and around the panhandle. He ended up teaching in Dumas and part time with Amarillo College. In 1997 he retired and moved to Amarillo.

After many years of drinking and using, he joined Alcoholics Anonymous in 1977 and became a 32nd degree Mason in 1983. Obtained a Doctor of Theology degree and became an ordained minister in the Universalist Church. Ted was a very active member in AA since his introduction and was very grateful for GOD and LIFE he found there.

Ted had a passion for teaching and mentored many Science students in his career. His love of his family and of adventure made for many great stories.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 55 years and children Angie Denietolis of Washington DC, Rodney Rush of Amarillo, and Darin Rush of Tennessee. He is also survived by two siblings Cathy Lozano of Canyon and Dan Rush of Arkansas, 7 grandchildren, and many "Friends of Bill."
