NAME: Thomas Lynn Harper   AGE:  66

Thomas Lynn Harper, 66 of Amarillo died Sunday, March 11, 2012.

Funeral services will at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2011 in Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home.  Pastor Johnathan Mast of Hillside Christian Church South Campus officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S.  Georgia.

Thomas was born January 10, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas to Roy and Marcie Harper.  He grew up in Amarillo and attended Tascosa High School where he graduated with honors in 1964.  After being awarded the Eldon Durrett Scholarship he attended
Amarillo College, earning an Associate of Science Degree.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Texas State University in 1968.  He worked as graduate assistant while earning Master of Science Degree in 1970.  He also did post graduate study at Texas Tech University.  In 1971 Thomas became an instructor in the Department of Biological Science at Amarillo College.  In 1974 he became a Quality Control Engineer for Bell Textron.  He later became a senior quality control engineer at Litton Industries in Lubbock, Texas.  From there he moved to Tucson, Arizona to become a product assurance engineer/auditor for Hughes Missile Systems (later known as Raytheon Missile Systems) until his retirement in 2003.  Tommy moved back to Amarillo in 2008 to help his sister with his ailing mother Marcie Harper, who pre-deceased him on March 11, 2012.

Thomas was extremely creative.  He enjoyed photography, gardening, landscaping, art and painting.

He will be missed greatly by family and friends.  He was a Christian and a patriot that loved his country and his family.  The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful, loving care that he received from Childers Place and the staff of Hospice of the Southwest.

He was survived by his sister, Judith Pybus and her husband Jerry; two nephews, Dewayne Pybus and wife Stacey, and Tim Pybus and wife Melissa; three grand-nieces, Audrey, Kate and Avery.
