Thomas Kelly Stringer

Thomas “Kelly” Stringer, 68 of Amarillo died January 27, 2014 in Amarillo.
Family will receive friends at 6:00 PM, today, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 and Rosary will follow in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2014 in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Jim Scmitmeyer as celebrant. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Kelly was born February 22, 1945 to T.H. and Mary Louise Stringer. He was born in Tulia and was raised in Amarillo. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School. Kelly was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to those who knew him. Some of Kelly’s favorite hobbies were building models, storm watching, photography. His was most proud of his volunteering for the Boy Scouts and his three Eagle Scout sons. He also served for the Knights of Columbus. A most important part of Kelly’s life, was volunteering for the Amarillo Emergency Service for 47 years where he did storm spotting, traffic control, and various other duties that he loved doing.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth, and his parents.
Kelly is survived by his loving wife, Grace, his sons, Robert Stringer and wife Alicia, Mark Stringer and wife Heidi, and David Stringer all of Amarillo; his sister, Kathy Knight and husband Roger of Amarillo, his sister in law, Sarah Stringer of Ft. Worth, three grandchildren, Nathan Ryan Stringer, Victoria Elizabeth Stringer, and Mason Kelly Stringer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family suggests memorials be made to the American Red Cross, Amarillo Chapter, 1800 South Harrison, Amarillo, Texas 79101
