Maria ("Tia") Inelda Argueta, 59, peacefully went to be with our Lord on November 2, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born to Juan Bautista Argueta and Maria Felix Argueta on July 14, 1951, and raised in Yoateca, El Salvador. Nearly thirty years ago, Maria immigrated to the United States and shortly thereafter, in 1983, joined the Mulhern family to care for their newly born daughter, Meghan Sarah, in Upland, California. A decade later, Maria relocated with Meghan and her mother, Sandra Mulhern, to Amarillo, Texas, where she remained, as was her way, selflessly caring for others with all of her heart until her passing. Maria was a parishioner of Paramount Baptist Christian Church. A lover of vibrant and lively colors, and the occasional manicure, her grace and patience affected everyone she touched. "Tia was a second mother to me," said Meghan. "She had an incredible green thumb and amazing instincts with plants and flowers. I remember her taking me on long walks and picking rose petals so we could taste them. Tia instilled in me a love of nature and animals and she consistently embodied the greatest capacity for empathy and compassion I have ever known."Left to cherish her memory are many family members and dear friends in Texas, California, Florida and, of course, El Salvador.
