Vera Mae Brunk

July 23, 1923 — June 26, 2014

VERA MAE BRUNK, age 90 of Amarillo died on June 26, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 28th at Valleyview Church of the Nazarene Chapel, 7601 South Western.  Dr. Larry Dunlap and Brent Bradley, Chaplain will officiate.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mrs. Brunk was born in Knott, Texas to R.E. and Mary Jane Peugh on July 23, 1923.  She married the love of her life, Hanford Brunk Jr in 1964.
She was a book keeper; working for several different businesses before assisting in the family business, she and her husband had, Brunks Custom Mill Works.
Mrs Brunk loved to travel.  The couple traveled extensively and shared an interest and talent in woodcarving and wood burning.  She was a member of the National Wood Carvers Association and taught wood burning classes to many.
She loved the outdoors, gardening and enjoyed games, such as dominoes and chicken foot, but nothing compared to the love she held for her family.  Her children and grandchildren were her life and she devoted herself to teaching, them by example, the ways of the Lord.
Mrs. Brunk was a member of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene and the Amarillo Business and Professional Women’s Association.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 7 pm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hanford Brunk Jr just a few short weeks ago on June 8th.  They would have celebrated fifty years of marriage on earth in September, now together for eternity, they will celebrate in glory.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Brattin and husband, Gordon, all of Amarillo; three sons, Gerald Joplin, of Amarillo, Ronald Joplin and wife, Joyce, of Southside, Alabama, and Dr. Leon Joplin and wife, Pam of Rule; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation, to benefit the patients at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX
