Victoria “Vicky” Ann Novak, 61, of Amarillo, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2016 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 4801 S. Austin, with Pastor Don Novak, brother-in-law, as officiant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.
Vicky was born March 21, 1954 in Canyon to Denver and Kathleen Cornelius. She married James Novak on April 9, 1982 in Borger, Texas. She received her Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University and her Masters degree from West Texas State University. Vicky worked at Pantex for 33 years as a certified industrial hygienist before retiring in 2009. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Both Vicky and James were dance instructors for FunTime Rounders and Silhouettes dance clubs. She loved quilting and her dance friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She fought a courageous battle against breast cancer for 25 years. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Vicky is survived by her husband James; two sons, J.D. Novak and wife Kim, and Jason Novak and wife Vicky, all of Amarillo; her mother, Kathleen Cornelius of Borger; one brother, Sam Cornelius and wife Barbara of Borger; eight grandchildren, Nichole, Candace, Rowdy, Brittany, Kylee, Devin, Braxton, Kimberlin, all of Amarillo; and many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved dog Zoe.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Patel and his staff at Amarillo Oncology for their love and care of Vicky over the past 25 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the funeral home.
