Virgil Lee Files, 89, of Amarillo, died on Friday, September 23, 2016 in Amarillo.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Llano Cemetery with Rev. Lance Herrington, Associate Pastor of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Virgil was born on April 15, 1927 in Sardis, Oklahoma to Charlie and Dora Goodwin. He has worked for the City of Amarillo for 30 years before his retirement. Virgil was an avid bowler. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. Virgil was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-sons, Toby Don Killough an Randy Killough; one step-grandson, Toby Wayne Killough; one brother; three sisters; and one niece.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Eileen Files, of the home; one step-son, Danny Killough of Amarillo; three great grandchildren, Ashely Pittman and husband Ryan of Aurora, CO, Zane Killough and Zoey Killough, both of Amarillo; one great-great grandchild, Serenity Pittman of Aurora, CO; and extended family, Debbie and Bruce Fite, and Steve and Rita Houchin, all of Amarillo.
A visitation for will be held Monday, September 22, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.
