Virginia “Gina” Forsythe, age 78 of Amarillo, died March 15, 2015 in Amarillo.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20th at 2:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. The Rev. Josh Kouri of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Gina was born August 2, 1936 in Auburn, NY to Frank and Marie Calescibetta. She married the love of her life, Marion H. Forsythe on February 27, 1955. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The family moved to Amarillo in 1962 and Gina worked as the Food Service Manager for AISD, retiring after 22 years. She was a member of the AISD Food Service Organization, Trinity Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi. She also enjoyed volunteering for the “HOST” program; she did this for over ten years. Gina delighted in the accomplishments of the students she had mentored made. Her greatest joy however, was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished time spent together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Rose Gleason and her brothers, Carmen, Joseph and Tom Calescibetta.
She is survived by her husband, Marion; her daughter, Anna and her husband Dan Dunson of Lubbock; her son Robert Forsythe and his wife Peggy of Amarillo; her four grandchildren, Amy Marie Xu, Aaron Michael Dunson, Amanda Dawn Gandy and Patrick Scott Forsythe; and two great-grandchildren, Kyla and Kadence.
