Vivian Ethel Hoover, age 81, died the morning of December 25, 2012.
Rosary will be at 10:00 AM. Friday morning, December 28, and the Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Peter Jaramillo of Kansas. The Burial will be in Chickasha, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 29 at 1:00 PM in the Holy Family Section of Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mrs. Hoover was born September 17" 1931 in Bradley" Oklahoma. She
graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic Academy in Chickasha with honors.
She was valedictorian of her class and went on to attend Oklahoma College
for Women with a scholarship in Chickasha. She married Lawrence Dale
Hoover, October 14, 1952. Lawrence was in the military and they moved
quite often. They lived in Weatherford, Oklahoma from 1952 to 1957. Tulsa,
Oklahoma from 1957 to 1959, Lubbock, Texas from 1959 to 1964.
They moved to Amarillo in 1964 and have lived here since that time. The
Hoovers had three children, Mary Porter of Cappell, Texas; Larry Hoover and
Burton Hoover of Amarillo. Mrs. Hoover was an active member of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church since 1964. Her hobbies included crochet, knitting
and watching Bill O'Riley and other classic movies. She is a lovig wife, mother
and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents Ethel Eula Smith
and Homer Perry Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Dale, one daughter, Mary Porter,
Two sons, Larry Hoover and Burton Hoover; two granddaughters
Caryn Bailey Hoover and Ellie Marie Porter.
The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Cross Catholic Academy or the
Diocese of Amarillo, Respect Life Ministries.
