Walter Keith Perky died Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Home Going services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the North Campus of Trinity Fellowship Church, 503 East Willow Creek Drive, with Pastor Bo Williams and Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Walter was born September 7, 1951, in Elkhart, Kansas, to Ray and Anna Beth Perky. He was a true cowboy and horseman, having worked on the Hanes Ranch in Oklahoma and Colorado and on the CK Ranch in Oklahoma. He was also employed by the Government for 38 years.
He loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He was a pool player who won numerous tournaments. Walter had a natural way with children, and they always enjoyed being around him. He was a buddy to many and was always a very caring and giving person. He was a true “man’s man”. Family was a priority with Walter, and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and he will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Birch Perky; mother, Anna Beth Perky; father-in-law, Glenn Elwood Goldman; and his step-mom, Daisy Perky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa; sons, Glenn Ray and Matthew Keith Perky of Amarillo; grandsons, Brayden, Carter, Logan, and Alex Perky; his granddaughter, Hannah Perky; and his special friends, Ileen and Ralph.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
